VOLUNTEER SPIRIT Do you love books and reading? The Bradford Public Library needs volunteers to assist at the desk, shelve books, at story time and for other activities. Organizational skills are a plus. The Library is open Tuesday through Saturday and volunteers should commit at least 1 day a week with a minimum of 2 hours. Training is provided. Transportation is an enormous obstacle to many people who want to remain independent and continue to live in their own homes. Stagecoach Transportation Services wants volunteer drivers to provide rides for people in the Bradford area without regular bus routes. Volunteer drivers use their own vehicles and are reimbursed for their travel expenses at the rate of $0.505 per mile. The hours are flexible and the choice to accept a trip is always up to you. OSIP Adult Day Services in Newbury provides participants with individual attention and services that may include professional health care services, nutritious meals, personal care, and activities designed to foster independence. Services are designed to provide continuing opportunities for personal enrichment through group involvement outside the home. Volunteers are needed to distribute new marketing materials in the community and to share crafts or other activities with participants. Scheduling is flexible. Central Vermont Adult Basic Education (CVABE) in Bradford is looking for volunteer mentors to work with adults and teenagers with less than a twelfth grade education in the areas of basic literacy instruction, computer instruction, workplace and pre-vocational technical education and math. Training and support are provided and scheduling is flexible. |
